Not bad as far as it goes, but it is very short and just scratches the surface of music production. There's very little information on mic placement, the types of mics, emulation, recording direct into the board, various recording software programs, and nothing on remix, EQ, compression, normalization, mastering or converting from uncompressed to compressed audio files. I think the title is misleading given how incomplete this book is.Product details

Read the whole thing in less than 30 minutes. But there are some very good tips to be found. Especially the one about using a tambourine.
This book is a really good guide in terms of getting to know what does the music producer do, not especifically a technical guide for all the audio geeks.

This should be required reading in all recording schools. Each word and page made me swell with belief that I can be as great as I wish. Thanks for writing this awesome resource.
I own a recording studio in Alaska. It's easy to get caught up in "producing" an album and forget to let it breathe. This was a good reminder to be creative first! I especially related to the section on the Zoom H4n. I recently used one for a week long run and gun shoot with National Geographic, and the tracks came out awesome!
This is an excellent introduction into the world of home recording on your computer. Well worth the time. I've been recording audio on my computer for a long time and I found some interesting bits of information that I didn't know and it was worth the price to learn them. They paid for the book immediately.
